此戰印地安人隊由Corey Kluber先發，他已在世界大賽第一戰及第四戰先發，並贏得勝投，這是Kluber第三次先發出賽，小熊隊Kyle Hendricks主投，小熊隊1局上Dexter Fowler就轟出全壘打，他是世界大賽史上第一位在第七戰首局首打席轟全壘打的球員。
印地安人隊3局下反攻，Coco Crisp一上場就率先敲出二壘打，一出局之後，Carlos Santana再敲安打，送回追平的1分。
小熊隊Kris Bryant先擊出安打，Anthony Rizzo觸身球保送，Addison Russell打出中外野飛球，Bryant積極跑壘，回本壘攻下超前分，接著Willson Contreras再敲出二壘打，打回第3分。
